Arrive at Lisbon airport and make your way to Évora, a beautifully preserved, medieval walled town with its roman remains. Join a city tour of Évora, see the Évora Aqueduct and Chapel of Bones, a fascinating chapel with a very macabre atmosphere. Enjoy an idle walk through its historical center to discover the university town and the cathedral before stopping for some photos at the wonderful roman temple.
Begin the day with a scenic drive to the historic town of Elvas. Upon arrival, marvel at the impressive Aqueduct, a masterpiece built by the same architect who designed the Tower of Belém in Lisbon. Explore the town's impressive fortifications, a World Heritage Site, featuring the 17th-century Forte de Santa Luzia and the 18th-century Forte da Graça. The tour concludes in the charming town of Castelo Branco, where you'll spend the night.
Make your way to Monsanto. The entire area is enlivened by several emblazoned palaces with Manueline doorways. One of the most notable buildings amidst all the houses is the 14th-century Torre de Lucano (Lucan’s Tower), crowned by a replica of a cock’s clow. Proceed to Guarda for a guided city tour which includes the Cathedral, the Museum of Guarda.
In the morning, drive up to the city of Braga. Stop en route at the picturesque Amarante city to see its impressive natural features, its bridge which perpetuates the memory of the local population´s heroic resistance against Napoleon’s troops and the town of Guimaraes, celebrated for its architectural style and design.
Drive to to Porto to explore Portugal’s second-largest city. Together with the local guide, we'll explore some of the city's iconic landmarks, including Porto Se Cathedral, Torres & Igreja dos Clerigos, and Avenida dos Aliados. We'll also visit a Wine Cellar and have the opportunity to taste theworld-renowned Port wine, which is exclusively produced in the Douro Valley. In the evening, we'll dine at a nearby restaurant and savor the local specialty of Cataplana rice, paired perfectly with a glass of wine.
Depart for Lisbon and en route stop at Coimbra, home to one of the very first universities to be established in Europe and is therefore considered to be the main seat of learning in Portugal.
Today, explore the Lisbon City and stop by Lisbon’s most iconic monument, the Belem Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will also see the Jeronimos Monastery and its exquisite cloisters before visiting the Discoveries Monument built in honour of Henry the Navigator. Enjoy the lively atmosphere of Rossio Square, the medieval alleyways of the Alfama Quarter, the impressive view of the Castle of São Jorge, the outstanding Cristo Rei, and the scene of swaying cruise boats docked at the Port of Lisbon. Spend the rest of the day shopping or join an optional tour that will take you out of Lisbon and to the medieval village and coastal towns.
