Upon arrival in Osaka, we will travel to visit Fushimi Inari Shrine, a renowned Shinto shrine located in Kyoto. It's famous for its thousands of vibrant orange torii gates that form a pathway up the sacred Mount Inari. Next, head to Togetsukyo Bridge, it’s a historic wooden bridge spanning the Katsura River. Arashiyama Park is a mesmerizing natural wonder, characterized by the bamboo forest trail that create a unique, peaceful ambiance. Immerse in the tranquil beauty of this enchanting setting.
In the morning, head to Kurokabe Square (“Black-wall” Square), a charming area in Nagahama City. It's known for its distinctive black-walled buildings, which give the square its name. Sample Village Iwasaki DIY, located in the same area, is a unique attraction showcasing realistic plastic food replicas. You can try your hands at making these delicacies yourself and bring home a souvenir. Next we proceed to Gujo Hachiman Castle, it is a historic castle perched atop a hill overlooking the picturesque Hachiman town below. Although much of the original castle was destroyed, it has been meticulously reconstructed to reflect its former glory.
End the day staying at Gero Onsen, it is one of Japan's top three hot spring resort areas, nestled in the scenic mountains of Gifu Prefecture, renowned for its mineral-rich waters and therapeutic baths, providing visitors with ultimate relaxation amidst picturesque natural surroundings.
Today, visit Old Merchant Street, a historical district in Takayama. The well-preserved Edo period buildings now house shops, restaurants, and museums. Stroll along the cobblestone streets and admire the traditional architecture while browsing for local crafts, souvenirs, and snacks. Daio Wasabi Farm is one of Japan's largest wasabi farms, offering visitors the chance to explore vast fields of this iconic Japanese plant. The farm features walking paths, watermills, and wasabi-themed dishes, providing a unique and immersive experience in the heart of the Japanese countryside. (Wasabi ice cream at own expense) For the next two days, stay in Shiga Kogen a renowned ski resort area located in the Joshinetsu Kogen National Park in Nagano Prefecture. It offers a wide range of ski slopes and winter sports activities suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
Enjoy a full day of leisure in Shiga Kogen. Winter activities like skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling (Includes chair lift pass, but all winter activities and equipment are on own expense) are some choices to give it a try. Another popular activity is to relax and rejuvenate in the natural hot springs (onsen) as it provides a tranquil retreat amidst the snow-covered mountains. Shiga Kogen boasts stunning alpine scenery, with majestic mountains, dense forests, and pristine snowscapes. Whether skiing down the slopes or taking a leisurely stroll, you can immerse in the beauty of the natural surroundings. Overall, Shiga Kogen's combination of world-class skiing, breathtaking scenery, and unique attractions make it a special destination for winter travellers looking for an unforgettable experience in the Japanese Alps.
After breakfast, make our way to the Jigokudani Monkey Park, home to the famous snow monkeys, who are known for bathing in the park's hot springs during the winter months (Required to walk 30 minutes to the park). Watching these wild monkeys soak in the warm water surrounded by snowy landscapes is a truly unforgettable experience. Before heading to Tokyo, we make a shopping stop at one of the biggest outlets in Japan. The Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza is a popular outlet mall that offers a unique shopping experience with a wide range of stores, enjoy famous brands and designer labels at discounted prices. There are certain vantage points in Karuizawa where, on a clear day, you might catch a distant glimpse of Mount Fuji.
This morning, visit Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, one of the largest wholesale fish markets in the world. It’s famous for its bustling seafood trade, offering a wide array of fresh catches. Next is Sensoji Temple, one of the city's oldest and most famous Buddhist temples, known for its iconic Kaminarimon Gate and vibrant Nakamise-dori shopping street. After dinner, bid farewell to this beautiful country as you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
