Destination- NORTHERN EUROPE - 11D8N SCANDINAVIA SPRING ODYSSEY (APR)
Assemble at the airport and depart for Stockholm, the capital of Sweden that encompasses 14 islands and more than 50 bridges on an extensive Baltic Sea archipelago.
Kick off the day with an orientation tour of Stockholm. Our first photo stop at the Stockholm City Hall, this romantic structure also hosts the prestigious Noble Prize banquets in its Blue and Golden Halls, with the latter featuring 18 million gold mosaic tiles. Continue to the Old Town to view the magnificent structures of the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. We'll visit Gamla Stan, known as the Old Town, a significant highlight in Stockholm and one of Europe's most extensive and well-preserved medieval city centers.
Make a photo stop at the beautiful Örebro Castle, a medieval castle fortification at Svartån in Örebro County, Sweden. It was expanded during the reign of the royal family Vasa and finally rebuilt about 1900. Depart for Karlstad, a city on the Klaralven River in Varmland County, Sweden. It’s known for the neighbouring Lake Vanern to the south. The Old Stone Bridge is the country’s longest Stone Bridge and one of Karlstad’s most photographed locations.
Visit Maihaugen Museum, an open-air museum with more than 200 historic houses from as far back as the 13th Century until today. The buildings, exhibitions and cafes offer an insight into how life was like in the past, and you may even have a peek through the open doors of some of the houses! Make a pit stop at the Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena. Overnight in Vinstra.
En route to Sognefjord, make a photo stop at the exceptionally well-preserved Borgund Stave Church, one of the most distinctive stave churches in Norway that was built around the year 1180. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nærøyfjord on a quiet and emission-free Fjord Cruise between Flåm and Gudvangen. The panoramic view of the beautiful and untouched fjord landscape is a memory for life!
Today, consider an optional ride on the Flåm Railway - embark on the most incredible train journey where you'll be treated to endless panoramas of placid rivers, deep ravines, cascading waterfalls and mountain farms clinging precariously to snow-capped peaks. Next, travel to Bergen, a large Norwegian city with small-town charm. Your exploration begins with a Bergen city tour; soak up the sights and sounds of the bustling Fish Market in the heart of the city, wander along the narrow alleyways, and step into the smorgasbord of shops and galleries in Bryggen.
Move on today to the Hardangerfjord region, the second longest fjord in Norway that measures 179km long and 900m in depth. A fjord is a long, narrow inlet from the sea with steep sides or cliffs created by glacial erosion during the ice ages. Next, make a photo stop at Steinsdalsfossen, a special 50-metre cascade with footpaths to, from and behind it so you can explore it safely while keeping dry. The fall was formed in 1699 when the river changed its course. We will then pass by the Hardanger Bridge to make a stop at Vøringfossen, the 83rd highest waterfall in Norway, for some photos before we continue to the capital of Norway, Oslo, for the night.
Begin your exploration of the city by the City Hall that is covered with a rainbow of motifs depicting the Norwegian history, culture and lifestyle, as well as the neo-classical structure of the Royal Palace. Thereafter, pay a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park, an attraction worth seeing as it showcases the life's work of sculptor Gustav Vigeland that features more than 200 life-sized sculptures in bronze, granite and cast iron. After which, we will take an overnight cruise to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
Note: If the overnight cruise is unexpectedly closed for maintenance, we'll substitute it with hotel accommodation for an overnight stay.
Arrive at the lovely city of Copenhagen and go on a city tour to take in the sights of the famous amusement park Tivoli Gardens, the City Hall Square, Hans Christian Andersen Statue, and Christiansborg Palace. Stop by the Little Mermaid Sculpture, which was inspired from the fairytale and the mystical Gefion Fountain. If traffic conditions are fair, we will make an additional pit stop at Nyhavn for some picturesque photos.
Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure till it is time to transfer to the airport for your flight home.
We hope you enjoyed your vacation with our company and we look forward to seeing you again on your next trip.
